What is the role of the Volunteers?
The backbone of the Meals on Wheels organization is our Volunteers. Our Volunteers are caring, committed individuals who are dedicated to helping others.
Their service is invaluable in helping our clients maintain independence in their own homes. They help insure the safety of clients by providing a check on their well-being. If no personal contact is made, all necessary steps are taken to determine the whereabouts of the client.
Volunteers are needed to:
- drive and/or serve for the delivery of hot and/or frozen meals
- serve at the Congregate Dining events
- drive and assist at Lunch Out events
- Serve on the Board of Directors
Scheduling is flexible. If you would like to volunteer, please call (905) 356-7548 or (905) 356-9194 for further information.
Special thanks to the Stamford Kiwanis Club for monies donated in order to be able to offer gas assistance to our Volunteer drivers.
Special thanks to many local businesses, churches, Royal Canadian Legions, and service clubs for annual donations, which are used to subsidize the cost of meals.
If you wish to contribute towards the cost of this vital service, donations may be made to:
