Good nutritious meals are a very important part of health and well-being for elderly persons living independently in the community. Because dietary intake is often reduced due to health problems and decreased activity, it is even more important that meals provide the necessary nutrition for good health. Just as important, the meal is delivered by a cheerful and carefully selected volunteer, who is also able to report any health or security concerns that require follow-up.
Hot Meals are nutritionally balanced and are prepared under the supervision of a dietitian. They include soup, an entrée of meat, fish or poultry and potatoes, noodles or rice OR an alternate, two vegetables and a dessert. Special diets are handled individually (e.g. Diabetic, Renal, Low Salt, Pureed, Minced). Meals are delivered throughout the week over the noon hour. Clients may order meals only for the number of days a week they are required.
